League Two round Up
League Two clubs were busy in the transfer market this week as the window for loan signings closed on Thursday. With just a handful of games left this season the new players could make the difference between promotion and survival, so here are some of the best loans that went through.
Sammy Igoe
Bristol Rovers to Hereford
Igoe is a very experienced player who has experience of promotion from this level with Bristol Rovers from last season. He has plied his trade as high as Championship level in the past and could be the difference between the Bulls going up automatically or settling for the play-offs.
Stephen Gleeson
Wolves to Stockport
County have made great strides in recent months and they still have hopes of an automatic promotion place. Gleeson, an international with Eire, will return to Edgeley Park for a second spell after joining on loan last season and he will be looking to repeat his impressive form this time around. He has some League Two experience already this season after a loan move to Hereford United.
Bruce Dyer
Doncaster to Chesterfield
Spireites boss Lee Richardson will be hoping that Dyer can fill the void left by Jack Lester after the clubs top scorer broke his nose last week. Dyer is very experienced but has played little football this season and with the season drawing to a close it gives him little time to settle in. Richardson has also signed Graeme Owens on loan from Middlesbrough and Colin Hawkins on loan from Coventry.
Michael Barnes
Manchester United to Shrewsbury
New boss Paul Simpson has set about re-structuring his side and has taken Barnes on loan for two months. The youngster has played one first team game for United earlier this season in a Carling Cup game against Crewe and should find League Two level to his liking. The Shrews have also taken Martin Riley on loan from Wolves to the end of the season.
Delroy Facey
Gillingham to Wycombe
The big striker should be a good acquisition for play-off hunting Wycombe but he has found goals hard to come by this season, scoring just three times for the Gills. Stepping down a level my help him to rediscover his goal scoring touch and if it does then Wycombe should hold on to their play-off place.
