An Interview With The Millers Number One Keeper
Millers' keeper Andy Warrington felt that the last two games have seen Rotherham return to similar form that saw them challenge for promotion only a few months ago.
The Millers have won their last two matches, the first back-to-back league victories since January 1st and the former Doncaster stopper was quick to praise the recent team display's:
"I thought that the performance against Grimsby was very professional and it got us back to winning ways, said Warrington.
"Then on Saturday I thought that we knocked it around really well, especially in the first half, and I think that the performance as a whole was excellent."
The club received a huge boost on Friday after it was revealed that formal bids had been lodged to take over the club. Warrington revealed how the good news off the pitch transpired through to the players:
"The news of the bids gave everyone a huge lift, he said.
"It was the news that we were all hoping for and it lifted everyone around the place. Hopefully we can now look to a positive future, keep the squad together and push on next season."
Saturday's match did not finish without controversy after the referee, much to the Daggers dismay, ruled out a Dagenham equaliser because of handball. Warrington was right in the thick of the incident and revealed that he thought the official, Clive Oliver, was spot on:
"There was a lot going on and they were throwing bodies everywhere and I think that there was more than one hand ball, Warrington revealed.
"The referee saw it early enough and there was also plenty of pushing going on, so I don't think there is any doubt that it was the right decision from the ref."
Since arriving at Millmoor last summer Warrington has become a fans favourite and his consistency between the sticks has yet to see him miss a league game this season. The fans have made an impression on Warrington who has been grateful for their support:
"It's a great feeling to hear your name chanted, he said.
"It just shows you that the job you are doing is appreciated .I have enjoyed my time here, the fans have been fantastic with me from day one and hopefully we can get the glory days back for next season."
